Poojai - Music Review

Poojai is Tamil film featuring Vishal and Shruti Hassan, elder daughter of Actor Kamal Hassan. Vishal has maintained his position among the top 5 young heroes in the Tamil Film Industry and most of his films have been hits. This film is being produced by Vishal himself like some of his earlier movies and is directed by Hari who has earlier given super commercial hits like Vengai. Hari's scripts are usually racy and fast, and adopts a surprise twist and turn in most of the critical sequences. Vishal  had a good box office release with his recent release "Naan Sigappu Manithan" and the expectations from him are quite high from this film too. Shruti is back in Tamil Cinema after a long hiatus, almost after three years. She has been choosing her projects carefully and wish her to do well. Sarathraj sports a bald look in the film and is suppsoed to have a critical role and is supported by Radhika who now moves to Cinema after her successful TV serial Vani Rani. Kausalya and Prathap Pothen also have important roles while Rekha plays the role of Vishal's mother in the film.

Vishal-Hari-Yuvan combo is back again after 7 years, when they made "Thamirabarani" which went on to be a blockbuster with its tier-2 town background. Thhis movie has six songs, all penned by Na. Muthukumar. Yuvan, as usual has sung one song and has some fresh voices as well. Ippadiye, sung by Rahul Nambiar and Mili Nair is a soft number, seemingly a romantic one. Soda Bottle, sung by Yazin, Anthony Dasan and Sathyan seems like a boys' day-out number, perhaps an opening song too and is sure to appeal to youngsters and front-row fans. Odi Odi by Palakkad Sriram is a fast number, perhaps showing the turning point in the movie. Verarum sung by Karthik and Pooja is another slow number, but foot tapping rhythm. Uyire, sung by Yuvan sounds more like a love-distress number.

Over all, the songs are quite commercial with some of Yuvan's past glimpses but 2-3 songs would certainly hit the top of the charts atleast until the movie is released and shortly thereafter. Here is the link for the album:

We expect this film to be a box office hit this Diwali and wish the team and crew good luck.
